Bridgeland in Cypress, TX, is once again opening its streets for a good cause, the 2010 inaugural Mistletoe 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run, set for Sunday, Dec. 5, benefiting Run Over Cancer.On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the 5K starting at 9 a.m. Race awards will take place at 10 a.m. followed by the one-mile Family Walk at 10 a.m. and the 1K Kids’ Fun Run at 11 a.m.Registration is ongoing, with fees before Nov. 15 costing $25 per adult and $15 per child for the 5K run and walk, $10 per child for the Kids’ Fun Run and $5 per person for the Family Walk. After Nov. 15, fees are $30 per adult and $20 per child for the 5K race, $15 for the Kids’ Fun Run and $7 per person for the Family Walk. Participants in the 5K and Kids’ Fun Run receive an event T-shirt, with additional shirts available for $10.Adding to the fun will be a costume contest and Santa Claus activity area, open from 8-11 a.m., with a visit from the jolly old man and his helpers during the event.The costume contest winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from Sun & Ski Sports and 5K winners (overall and age group) will receive a trophy. All Kids’ Fun Run participants will receive a ribbon.Run Over Cancer is a non-profit organization started in 2008 to help families currently suffering from the disease with food, housing and medical expenses. The Bridgeland race benefits Griffin Turley, diagnosed in March with a rare type of kidney cancer. The sixth-grader requires at least a full year of treatment to battle the growth on his kidney.
