Alice, the white rabbit, Cheshire Cat and all of your Wonderland favorites will come to life at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 and 12, when area residents stage “Alice in Wonderland” in Bridgeland in Cypress.The free performance features the talents of 38 local residents. Directing the play is Candice Koern, who has been director of theater at Cy-Fair High School for more than 20 years and has directed more than 70 productions, including those qualifying for state competitions.“Alice in Wonderland” will be staged at the performance pavilion in Festival Park, one of several park areas in Bridgeland’s Lakeland Heights traditional neighborhood development. Festival Park is located across the street from Lakeland Activity Center, 16902 Bridgeland Landing. Concessions will be available.There is no reserved seating for either performance. Audience members are invited to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and encouraged to arrive early.This is just one of a host of classes and events Bridgeland has opened to the public this year, including cooking and sports camps for the kids, gardening and birding classes and various concerts and markets. The public events were in addition to an active residents-only events calendar. This fall brings two of Bridgeland’s largest annual events — Nature Fest, slated for Sept. 25, and Howl-O-Ween, happening Oct. 30.
