Another Happy Homeowner in Houston

My family and I live in a new Partners in Building home in Copper Lakes.  Will Tucker has been our builder. I wanted to write to let you know how tremendously happy we have been with Will's efforts to build us our new house.First of all, my family and I have lived in Copperfield for over 18 years. We bought a "fixer upper" back in 1992, and have been upgrading it up to the point where it finally didn't make sense to continue. Plus the house was too small for growing kids. Partners in Building had been constructing homes in the area for many years, so my wife and I have had many opportunities to look at your houses while bike riding around the neighborhood. We always wanted one of your houses but weren't so sure we could afford one. But we could dream. After many years of riding by and wishing, we had saved up enough and decided we could finally get our dream house. So we purchased an empty lot from you in April of this year, and Will Tucker was assigned to be our builder. My family and I have never purchased a new house before. We had no idea what to expect. Living literally "just down the street" from our new house, I had the opportunity to inspect the work almost every evening. And, being an engineer, I watched closely. There were times during the construction where we didn't necessarily know what was going on. Will had set up a system where we could always call him, but using emails allowed him time to investigate perceived problems and respond when he knew the answer. We used this system extensively. I'm sure we didn't always remember to tell him it looked like he was doing a good job even when he was. Mostly we used the emails to convey every little problem we thought needed addressing, even if the correct approach would have been to just wait and let the item get sorted out. But Will was always responsive and professional, even when we only wanted to complain. We complained quite a bit. But don't take that as a comment on Will. Everything - and I mean everything - was addressed and fixed to our satisfaction in the end. Many things were a pleasant surprise in the level of what we got.  When we moved into the house in October, we had some bad luck and our sewer line to the street overflowed. It was awful. Will can tell you about the details. We don't want to relive them. We were not happy. Carpets were ruined. Wood floors were exposed to water damage. Water potentially creeped up the sheetrock walls - we had no idea of the extent of the damage. We contacted the emergency numbers that Will had provided (right on the under the kitchen sink cabinet door), and within a few hours, Will and Eric Zahn had arranged Blackman-Mooring to come over and respond to the potential damage. Response was fast and professional. Plumbers came out the next day to fix the sewer line. We weren't happy, but things were being taken care of as best as possible. As I said, it was hard to know how much damage was done. But Blackman-Mooring decided that the floorboards needed to be ripped out and that industrial fans and dehumidifiers needed to be run for several days. We had been in the house for only six days. We didn't especially like Partners in Building at that point. But Will and Eric were there, letting us know they were on the job and were going to stay until things were right. We made a lot of demands to Will and Eric to ensure that our house would be set back to normal. Will and Eric reasonably discussed everything with us and came up with a plan of action. Will "baby sat" and also worked on our house during the repairs, allowing workers to come in and fix items while my family was away at work and school. We found some new problems as work progressed. And they were all addressed. I'll admit that it took some time to get everything back to get back to normal, but I think we're now there. And PIB has been gracious enough to compensate us for items ruined from the extensive flooding. We wish the incident hadn't have happened. We'd like to blame PIB for the plugged sewer line, but we realistically see that it's just a great misfortune. There are many ways it may have happened during construction, not all of them under PIB's control. We've already done the complaining. But we at least had the caveat that PIB backs the house up with a reasonable warranty.Through all of this, Will listened to our needs, and worked to get our house right. I imagine many people know how to build a house. And many people know how to professionally and courteously handle angry customers. But I doubt there are too many who can do both well. Will is one of those people. We thank you for having assigned Will to our house. He has done an excellent job. We expect to have many happy years in our new house now with the initial mishaps officially out of the way. We have a bit of unpacking to do before I will claim this as our "dream house", but thanks to Will, we're well on our way. We appreciate that greatly, and hope that you also appreciate Will's skills and professional attitude. Any company can build a good product, but in the end, it still comes down to the people that work for the company. Will Tucker is a great asset to your company.Thank You,Glenn P.
