From November 19th's Austin Statesman: Central Texas employers have added 18,200 jobs in the past year, as the Austin area continues as one of the nation's most vigorous job markets.The Texas Workforce Commission reported Friday that the area had added jobs at a 2.4 percent rate from October 2009 to last month.That brought the area's job total to 775,400.In Central Texas, unemployment was 6.8 percent, unchanged from September and down from 7.1 percent in October 2009.Payroll employment data and the unemployment rate are based on two separate surveys, and the two indicators do not always move in lockstep with each other from month to month.Statewide, employers have added 172,800 jobs in the past year and 47,900 from September to October.Unemployment was 8.1 percent, unchanged from September.
