Real estate bloggers following the Austin, TX housing market have been enthusiastically reporting Austin's number one ranking among large cities in a recent New Geography article outlining the "Best Cities for Job Growth". While Austin enjoyed a job growth of merely 1% in 2008, its accomplishments far surpass those of other regions at risk of or currently suffering losses in job creation. About the study:
The study is based on job growth in 333 regions--called Metropolitan Statistical Areas by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which provided the data--across the U.S. Our analysis looked not only at job growth in the last year but also at how employment figures have changed since 1996.Following the recent stable trend for Texas in various real estate and economic rankings, eight Houston areas made the top twenty, including Houston, San Antonio, Ft. Worth and Dallas - with energy as the top push for high-paying, high-volume jobs.
