Howl-o-ween Fest is Coming to Bridgeland!

Dog lovers can embark on a day of canine camaraderie during Bridgeland’s annual Howl-O-Ween Fest, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, in Bridgeland’s Oak Meadow Park in Cypress, TX.The family-and-Fido event, co-sponsored by Foundry Church, will include a bevy of pup-friendly activities, including a “Splash Dogs” dock-diving competition, with qualifying rounds occurring Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30, and the finals happening Sunday, Oct. 31. The event is part of the Southern Regional Qualifier for national competition that will take place in Las Vegas later in the year.Other Howl-O-Ween activities include mobile vets and groomers, pet adoption, vendors, trick-or-treating for kids and dogs and even concessions for pets and their people. Guennadi, a clown who has performed around the world, will keep the crowd laughing with his entertaining dog act. Plus, the Houston Canine Frisbee Disc Club will wow the crowd with jump-and-catch antics.Fun for all will be a costume contest for both dogs and their owners. Categories include: Best Movie-Themed Costume, Best Two-Legged Costume (person), Best Four-Legged Costume (pooch), Best Themed Pet/Owner Pairing, Most Original, Audience Favorite, Best Pet Trick, Best Owner/Pet Look-Alike and A Face Only a Mother Could Love (four-legged). Winners in each of the nine categories will receive a $50 American Express gift card.Howl-O-Ween Fest is free and open to the public; however, various activities, such as the parade and costume contest, will include a nominal fee to raise funds for local pet rescue groups. Proceeds from a silent auction also will benefit local pet rescue groups.
