Partners in Building announces today that President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Lemming will retire from his position following a distinguished career in homebuilding spanning more than four decades. Effective June 2026, Chris Lemming has been named President, marking the next chapter in the company's leadership as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Founded in 1986, Partners in Building has earned a reputation as one of the nation's premier custom homebuilders. Since acquiring the company in 2010, Jim Lemming has guided its growth across Texas and Tennessee while maintaining the customer-focused approach and family values that have long defined the organization.
Under his leadership, Partners in Building expanded into new markets, strengthened its Build On Your Lot program, deepened relationships with leading master-planned community developers, and established itself as a recognized leader in luxury custom homebuilding. Today, the company serves homeowners across Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth & Nashville.

Chris Lemming joined Partners in Building in 2015 after beginning his career as an attorney, bringing a unique combination of legal, operational, and strategic expertise to the organization. Over the past decade, he has held leadership roles across land development, construction, project management, and operations, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business and the customers it serves.
Most recently, Chris served as Division President of the company's Dallas-Fort Worth operations, where he led the continued growth of Partners in Building's North Texas presence and helped expand the company's reach into new communities and markets.
His appointment follows a deliberate succession process years in the making. Working alongside Jim and the company's leadership team, Chris has played an integral role in shaping the organization's strategy, operations, and long-term vision while preparing to assume leadership of the company.
