Partners in Building Helps Transform YMCA Camp Grady Spruce

At Partners in Building, we’re proud to be a part of projects that go beyond building homes — projects that build experiences, strengthen communities, and make a lasting difference. One of our most recent projects allowed us to do exactly that at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce, located on beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake.

A Major Expansion: New Cabins for Growing Generations

In close collaboration with the YMCA team, our Partners in Building crew worked diligently to modernize and enhance the camp's facilities. Outdated cabins were carefully demolished to make way for eight brand-new duplex cabins, providing a total of 16 individual units.

Thanks to this major expansion, Camp Grady Spruce has increased its overnight capacity from 140 to 256 beds — allowing thousands more campers to experience the joy, adventure, and personal growth that only summer camp can offer. In fact, over 16,000 campers are expected to enjoy these new accommodations this season, all while staying in safe, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed spaces tailored to meet the evolving needs of today’s campers

We’re especially proud that this work was completed on time — with campers arriving in early June, just in time to kick off another memorable summer season.

Looking Ahead: The New Welcome Center

But the story doesn’t end here. Our partnership with the YMCA continues as we embark on the next phase of the camp’s transformation: a brand-new Welcome Center.

Strategically located at the top of the hill, just inside the camp gates, this welcoming facility will serve as the first impression for arriving campers and visitors, and as a vital hub that connects both sides of the camp. The Welcome Center will feature:

  • Multiple modern office spaces

  • A fully equipped conference room

  • A Legacy Center to celebrate Camp Grady Spruce’s rich history

  • A flexible community space where local residents can engage with camp events and programs

  • This addition reflects the camp’s mission to remain a vibrant resource for families and the community for years to come.

We invite you to witness the incredible progress firsthand by viewing the Ray Bean Cabin Renovation Timelapse — a visual testament to the skill, coordination, and dedication that brought this vision to life.

Grateful for Strong Partnerships

We’re especially grateful to Paul Taylor with Paul Taylor Homes, whose leadership and vision helped bring this project to life and invited Partners in Building to play a role in it. His efforts were instrumental in making these improvements possible for Camp Grady Spruce. We also want to recognize and thank the more than 30 vendor partners whose expertise, hard work, and dedication helped turn this project into a reality. We’re proud to work alongside such talented teams to create spaces that serve the community for years to come.

Building for More Than Today

At Partners in Building, we believe that the structures we build are only part of the story. Equally important are the experiences they enable, the communities they nurture, and the lasting impact they make on countless lives. We are honored to contribute to the mission of YMCA Camp Grady Spruce and look forward to seeing generations of campers thrive in these beautiful new spaces.
