Last week, the Austin division of Partners in Building held a build on your lot seminar at the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse. The participants had a fun and informative evening which included a prime-rib dinner in the tradition of the true cattlemen of Central Texas.Steiner Ranch began in the 1930’s as one of two purchases by the Steiner family. The ranch sat along the banks of the Colorado River and close to Lake Travis in the heart of the Texas hill country. The Steiner's were cattle men and women who worked the ranch, produced the area-wide rodeo and trained many of the local bull riding stars of the time. In fact, the Steiner’s became so adept in the rodeo sports of bull riding and steer wrestling, that by 1973, Bobby Steiner himself won the Bull Riding World Championship, and in 2005 was inducted into the Ring of Honor in the Professional Bull Riders Hall of Fame. Another stake in the fame game lives on in the 4th generation Steiner, known as Sid “Rock” Steiner. In 2002, rodeo fans were treated to one of the best years in National Finals Rodeo Steer Wrestling competition as Sid was crowned the World Champion PRCA Steer Wrestler. If you visit his website at www.sidsteiner.net, you will find a quote that adequately sums up the Steiner spirit: "Take a dream, pull it out, and live it!" Today, Steiner Ranch consists of approximately 4,490 acres of land, and is located approximately 20 miles west of Austin’s central business district and bounded by Ranch Road 620 to the north, Lake Austin to the west and southeast and a 1,800 acre City of Austin endangered species preserve to the east. Approximately 1,000 acres of Steiner Ranch are considered habitat for endangered species, including the Black Capped Vireo and the Golden Cheek Warbler. The majority of this acreage is located within canyon and other natural drainage areas. The ultimate build-out, as currently planned, should contain at least 3,000 single-family residential homes in addition to multi-family residential developments, top-rated schools, shopping, parks, pools, and a golf course.|For more information about Steiner Ranch, please contact Victoria Beasley at 512-266-8557.
