YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center in Creekside Park Nears Completion

Phase one of the YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center, located at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive in the Village of Creekside Park, is nearing completion.  This 21-acre site is located next to the 1,700-acre George Mitchell Nature Preserve, and is set to open on June 5, 2010. 

The Adventure Center will be a unique facility, with a special emphasis on outdoor recreation, reconnecting children and their families with nature, and bringing back the sense of adventure to the outdoor experience.The YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center features a 14,000 square foot lodge-style building that will be the home to the Y’s Summer Day Camp programs, serving up to 500 youth from The Woodlands, Tomball and surrounding communities.  Camps will be offered during spring break and holidays in addition to summer.  The lodge will include an expansive multi-purpose room for special events, group exercise, community meetings and expanded programming opportunities for the South Montgomery County YMCA.

Phase One of this project includes:

15-Acre Day Camp 14,000-Square-Foot Lodge Tipi Village and Themed Tree Houses Alpine Tower, Ropes Course and Archery Range Outdoor Theater with Stage Outdoor Chapel Family Outdoor Adventure

When Phase One opens June 5, 2010, the local YMCA will have one membership with three locations – Shadowbend YMCA, Branch Crossing YMCA and Creekside YMCA.
