Making the decision to build your own custom home is a big one, but it is just the first step. There are a thousand things running through your mind. What fixtures in the master bathroom? What cabinets in the kitchen? Tile or wood in the entry? The longer you think about it, the longer the list gets. Our Custom Design Centers are full of answers that will make a difference in your new custom home.
One of our talented Designers will assist you through the process, they will provide guidance along the way. We show you your Standard Features and offer suggestions and cost estimates as you go, ultimately creating your dream home within your budget.
The Design Center selection process is one of the most exciting parts of building your new home, and we want to help you to be as prepared as possible. The Design Center offers an extensive array of options, both as Standard Features and as Upgrade Options. Our process allows you to personalize your home to suit your unique needs and our Designers are here to help choose all the right details.
Your Sales Counselor will walk with you through our Design Center to introduce you to all the Standard Features included with your home, and they will explain the selection process, upgrade options, and our timelines.
After you finalize your contract and plans, and have had your Pre-Construction meeting, our Scheduling Coordinator will work with you to set up your Design Center appointments. We will ask you to schedule 4 meetings to get through all your selections. Please make sure to set aside the appropriate amount of time on your calendars for these appointments. All selections must be finalized within 45 days of your first appointment, so these appointments are typically spaced about a week apart. The appointments are approximately 2-3 hours long, depending on the selections being made. Please plan for childcare as necessary, as there is no childcare available at the Design Center and we want to make sure you can focus all of your attention on your home.
We want to get to know you! We will send over a link to a Design Center Questionnaire prior to your first appointment for you to complete. This will help our designer prepare for their time with you and allows you to provide information and feedback on the styles, selections and budget that are most important to you.
Get Inspired! Take time to browse the gallery of homes on our website for inspiration. Walk our models, spend time on Pinterest and Houzz, or flip through design books and magazines.
Attractive exterior doors, dynamic lighting, large windows, roofing materials, shutters, gutters, exterior cladding, and beautiful color combinations are essential elements of house exterior design. Your first appointment will be spent focusing on all the details to bring your exteriors to life.
Every detail is as important as the next.... from the cabinets, countertops, paint, and lighting, down to the grout in the tile, all the interior selections come together to create a cohesive interior design. Once you complete the exterior selections for your home, you will move to the interior. Designing each space, and creating transitions from each room to the next, you will work through cabinets, countertops, flooring, and backsplashes. Adding plumbing, lighting, and hardware to finish off every detail!
Once you’ve made all the selections for your new home, your Designer will ask you to sign off on our paperwork to finalize everything. You will receive a Selection Book with photos of all your selections, as well as diagrams and drawings detailing tile work, hardware locations, flooring materials, and any other custom design features. The Design Center team will then communicate everything to the construction team so they can get started on construction!
